Task 1 Research

Mario: Donkey Kong
Mario Donkey Kog is a very simple but successful game. It consists of one enemy, (donkey Kong) but then introduces in the second and third level. Donkey Kong attempts to hit Mario with barrels, the barrels are tossed down several platforms that eventually reach Mario. In order to avoid the barrel, the player must jump at the right moment, and then must reach donkey Kong by using the ladders at the end of each platform. Mario must reach Donkey Kong in order to save princess peach.
The jumping, ladders, main enemy, and the goal of the game is all introduced at the very beginning, but the game does nothing to explain to you how you must dodge the barrels. It also has a point system, which also consists of high scores and achievement. The higher the level you reach, then the more points you get.  As simple as it may be, it was incrdibly addictive and incredibly fun.
The game itself is slow pace, and tends to force the player to watch their speed as donkey Kongs throws  the barrels towards you, from above and the sides.
Ray Man Legends
http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/71NzThuqnlL._SL1500_.jpgRayman legends is a newer platformer, its part of the rayman series, but different to all over versions of the games. This is a sequal to “Rayman Origins”. It does a good job as a sequal because its added new interctions in the game along with new depth dimensions, where the player can jump from a fore screen to a a a screen further away. This ads new ways of attacking the player or challenging them, such as putting enemys that can interact between different screens, causing the player to think of a way to damge the enemy from affar.
Theres different themes between each set of levels, and each theme gets darker in different ways to descibe the level of difficluty. In the first theme, “Teensies in trouble” the game introduces secrete entrences to hidden teensies, meaning that the player will have to look in every erea. Some hidden entrences have puzzels that challenge the player to use the skills they have learned to save the teensies. It also uses a gravity mechanic that turns platforms clockwise or anticlockwise. The teensie can only be saved if all the enemys have been killed.  In the very first level it utilizes the games attack buttons in order to get the player involved/fimiliarise them with how they work. The developers have placed many little interactibles in the environment, so that the new attacks don’t go to waste.

As the player gets closer and closer towards the end of the first world, the player will find bigger and harder challeges in every level, while invluding new mechanics in every couple levels. It also has multiplayer but it can easily be finished alone as shown in this video below:
The art style fully suits the motion style the game this is, espicially as all the music is orchastral/ relative to the situation. For example, when the player is in a chace(this happens very often in  this game) the music becomes more paced and fast as to relate to what the player/plers are doing. When in a creepy erea such as a castle, the music does change to a more erie aproach. The art style seems to be more cartoony, to also suit the story and the way flows.
